General description of the service

The German Ice Hockey Federation (Deutscher Eishockeybund eV)DEB) provides comprehensive information about the association, the national teams, competitions and ice hockey in Germany on its website www.deb-online.de.

Explanations on the implementation of the service

The German Ice Hockey Federation (Deutscher Eishockeybund e.V.) provides information about its organization, areas of responsibility, committees, and national teams on its website www.deb-online.de. Users can access current news articles, match dates, and results.

Furthermore, it is possible to register online for courses and events. Inquiries can be submitted directly to the association via a contact form. Applications for advertised positions can be submitted using an integrated application form. Additionally, documents and informational materials are available for download in the download portal.

State of compliance with the requirements

We are committed to digital accessibility and aim to design our website so that it is fully accessible to all users. Therefore, we are continuously working to fully implement the requirements of the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and the Ordinance on the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV).

The above-mentioned service is partially compatible with the Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG).

The following parts/content/functions of the service are not accessible:

Alternative texts for images

Some images on our website currently do not have fully optimized alt text. This may limit usability for people with visual impairments who use screen readers. We are continuously working to review and make all alt text accessible to further improve the accessibility of our content.

PDF documents

The PDFs provided on our website are not accessible. This may result in limitations in accessing the content, especially for users of screen readers.

Embedded videos

Some videos embedded on our website are currently not fully accessible. They lack subtitles, audio descriptions, and text-based alternatives, limiting accessibility for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and blind users, as well as those with cognitive impairments. While controls are available via the native controls attribute, they are not fully accessible to all assistive technologies. We are currently exploring ways to provide accessible alternatives or improvements.

slider

The arrow navigation of the sliders is currently not, or only partially, operable via the keyboard. However, the individual elements within the slider can be accessed via the keyboard and jumped to directly.

Technical barriers in structure and semantics

Some areas of our website have minor technical barriers that may affect the semantic structure and the use of assistive technologies. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Elements without a clear landmark region,
  • additional banner roles in the page header,
  • missing semantic markup or unclear roles in interactive elements, such as the scroll back up button.

These barriers don't limit the overall usability, but they can make navigation difficult, especially for screen reader users. We are continuously working to resolve them.

Integrated third-party tools

Our website integrates content and functions from third-party providers. Please note that we have no control over the accessibility of these external tools and services. Therefore, limitations in usability or display cannot be ruled out.
However, when selecting the tools used, we always make sure to ensure the best possible combination of functionality and accessibility.

WP File Download (File management and download area)

The "WP File Download" plugin used on our website is designed for the structured display and provision of files (e.g., documents or forms). The download lists, tables, or grid views generated by the plugin are currently not fully accessible.

In particular, keyboard accessibility of individual interactive elements (e.g., sorting functions, filters, dropdown menus, or file previews) may be limited. Furthermore, some semantically correct HTML structures and supplementary ARIA attributes are missing, which restricts usability with screen readers.

We have no direct influence on the technical implementation and further development of the plugin. However, when selecting external components, we make sure to use solutions that are as accessible as possible and regularly review optimization opportunities.
