Since 2016, the clubs of the DEL, DEL 2 and Oberliga have been certified as part of the 5-star program. The goals of the program are to get more players excited about our sport, to ensure high-quality training as part of long-term performance development and to create structures in the respective clubs. An extensive catalog of criteria defines standards in all relevant areas, which are regularly reviewed by the responsible club supervisors. In addition to reviewing the targets, the club supervisors support the further development of the individual locations. Exemplary young talent work is promoted and supported with payments from the funding pool (according to Article 61).

FAQ about the 5-Star Program
Participation in the 5-star program is free of charge for clubs. This also applies to clubs whose senior teams do not participate in the DEL, DEL2 or Oberliga.
For clubs whose senior team plays in one of the DEL, DEL2 or Oberliga leagues, participation in the 5-star program is mandatory. Clubs whose senior team plays in one of the regional associations are welcome to participate in the program voluntarily. However, participation in the payouts is not possible for clubs from the regional associations. Please contact us about this.
In addition to certification based on the current criteria catalogue of the 5-star program, support also includes the implementation of training visits and, as a result, support for the club trainers. In addition, possible further developments are discussed with the club managers as part of site development discussions. Finally, support/mediation in discussions with stakeholders can also be listed.
The frequency of club visits currently depends on the league affiliation and amounts to 3 to 8 club visits per year.
The DEL clubs are looked after by Uli Liebsch and Herberts Vasilievs, while Markus Gleich looks after the clubs in the DEL 2. The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund, represented by Florian Ondruschka, looks after the Oberliga clubs. In addition, the responsible regional coaches in their respective regional associations provide support in carrying out club visits.
