Preparations for the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Germany 2027™ The project is entering its next phase: Approximately 1.500 volunteers are needed for the tournament. Registration opens on September 2, 2026. Initially, registration will be available for the two locations, Düsseldorf and Mannheim. Volunteers are an essential part of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship 2027. Through their involvement in a wide variety of areas, they contribute to ensuring that teams, Fans, media, partners and guests from all over the world feel welcome – and make the Festival of Friendship accessible even off the ice.

For the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship 2027 Volunteers are being sought in a total of nine areas:

- Arena Management
- Events & Services
- Driver
- IT Services • Marketing
- Media Operations
- Medical Operations
- Springer
The tasks range from working in the arena and at events to looking after the media and guests, as well as performing organizational and technical duties. Depending on their area of responsibility, volunteers receive all necessary information and training before their assignment. Three preferred areas of responsibility can be indicated during registration.
Right in the middle of the action
Anyone wishing to join the volunteer team must be at least 18 years old by May 1, 2027, and available for at least seven days of service. A valid email address and a smartphone are also required. German language skills are necessary, and English language skills are an advantage. Experience in the sports or event industry is welcome but not required. Volunteering offers the unique opportunity to experience the 2027 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship from a different perspective, become part of an international team, and meet sports enthusiasts from all over the world.
