The German women's national team won their third match of the Women's European Cup of Nations: Lilli Welcke scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory (0-0, 0-0, 1-0) against Hungary. This victory secured the tournament title for coach Jeff MacLeod's team in front of 423 spectators at the Bundesstützpunkt Arena in Füssen.

National coach Jeff MacLeod: “I think it was a really good game from both sides. We were pleased with the intensity and competition that Hungary brought to the ice. These kinds of games are important for us to continue developing. We wanted to try different things during the week and give the players the opportunity to showcase their skills in every game. The team showed great character again today. A win is always nice, of course, but what was more important for us was that we continue to develop as a team and take something away from every game. A lot has happened this week, but the players have embraced all the challenges. The staff is very grateful to them for that. Overall, we wanted to test different things as a team and try out new combinations – and that worked very well. Therefore, we can look back on a successful week overall.”
Svenja Voigt, striker“I would say that we had a bit of a hard time getting into the game at the beginning. It was a very back-and-forth affair, and the Hungarians played well. So it was all the more satisfying that we were able to score towards the end and finish the game so successfully. We tried out a lot of things this week and also saw some new faces in the lineups. I enjoyed trying out new combinations and gaining new perspectives as a result. For the future, it's important that we are well-coordinated and have already gained experience playing together with different teammates.”
