Horst Fuchs is stepping down as team manager of the German Ice Hockey Federation's men's national team for personal reasons. He has informed the DEB in a conversation with board member for sport Christian Künast.
Fuchs had been responsible for the organization surrounding the men's national team since the 2018 IIHF World Championship. His duties included managing the team staff, planning all travel arrangements, and creating the team's weekly and daily schedules. As the main organizational contact for players and staff, he coordinated the majority of the team's operations.
Fuchs coached the team at eight World Championships (2018, 2019, and continuously from 2021 to 2026). He also accompanied the team to the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2026 Games in Milan and Cortina. The 2023 World Championships in Tampere, where Fuchs was part of the team that won the silver medal, remains a particularly memorable event.
“The decision was truly difficult for me. But time constraints and the demands of my other professional responsibilities made this step necessary. It was an honor and a privilege to work for the national team. I always valued the collaboration with the team and the players at the tournaments. These are experiences and successes that will stay with me forever,” says Horst Fuchs.
