The U20 national team will start the 2026/2027 season with a summer training camp.

Extensive training and education program

 The summer training camp focuses on a total of six on-ice sessions, conducted both with the entire team and in smaller training groups. The program is supplemented by off-ice sessions, team meetings, and a... NADA trainingFurthermore, the players participate in the in:Prove study the Goethe University Frankfurt participated.

 

34 players nominated for the opening match

 U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter The club has called up a total of 34 players for the training course. The squad includes four goalkeepers, twelve defenders, and 18 forwards.

 

Korbinian Holzer in action for the first time as U20 team manager

The summer course also marks the first official DEB-Use of Korbinian Holzer as the new U20 team manager. He will accompany the team for the first time in his new role during the training camp in Füssen.

This year's squad is somewhat larger than in previous summer camps – this gives us the opportunity to closely observe a greater number of players and assess their current performance level. Our goal is to gain a comprehensive overview and see who, with their overall package, can recommend themselves for a nomination to this year's U20 World Championship in Canada. We want to prepare the players in the best possible way for the upcoming season with their clubs and, at the same time, convey to them the demands placed on them at the top international level in order to be successful at a World Championship.”

U20 team manager Korbinian Holzer“We’re looking forward to the first training session in Füssen. For me personally, it’s something very special to be part of the team for the first time. I want to integrate as quickly as possible, get to know the players, and work with the coaching staff to lay the foundation for successful collaboration. For us as a team, it’s about developing and internalizing our identity and our playing style right from the start. We want to offer the players the best possible conditions so they can fully develop and showcase their potential. At the same time, we want to establish a high standard from the outset – both on and off the ice. This will form the basis of our work and define us as a group throughout the entire season.”

 

The U20 national team will meet again in Piestany at the end of July. Two international matches against Slovakia are scheduled.
