This is the fourth IIHF U18 World Championship to be held in Germany. Previously, the tournament took place in Germany in 1999 (Füssen and Kaufbeuren), 2011 (Crimmitschau and Dresden), and 2022 (Kaufbeuren and Landshut). This year, Slovakia hosted the U18 World Championship in the top division.
The tournament in Germany will bring together the ten best U18 national teams in the world. In the preliminary round, five teams each will play in two groups in a round-robin format. The top four teams from each group will advance to the playoffs, which will consist of quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final. The two bottom-placed teams will play to determine which team is relegated.
