Reactions to the game #GERGBR
National coach Harold Kreis: "Today it was important that we won the game. We started well and focused, but in the second period our play became a bit too complicated. In the end, we did the job today and got the three points. We've seen again at this tournament how important the little things are at this international level – just like the special teams. We were lacking goals in crucial moments. Now we'll wait and see what happens tomorrow."
Defender Leon Gawanke: “Our goal today was to get the three points to maintain a mathematical chance of reaching the quarterfinals. We certainly could have scored more goals. The British made it quite easy for us in the offensive zone, which we exploited well at the beginning of the game. Then we started passing more instead of shooting. That's how we lost some momentum.”
Defender and captain Moritz Seider: “We started the game well. But then we let up and allowed the British a few too many counterattacks. Our minimum goal today was to get the three points. We had set our sights higher in this group stage, though. We usually started the games very well, but then we repeatedly gave away too much or left too many opportunities on the table. Now we have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.”
