Korbinian Holzer announced the end of his active career on Monday evening. The 38-year-old defender looks back on an impressive career that saw him progress from the Young Talent teams of DEB which led to the NHL.
Holzer played 211 games in the NHL – for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Anaheim Ducks, and the Nashville Predators. This made him one of the German defensemen who established themselves in the world's strongest ice hockey league for many years. In the PENNY DEL, he played for the Düsseldorfer EG and the pioneering Adler Mannheim active, most recently he crowned his career with the championship title with the Graz 99ers.
His career in DEBHolzer's international career began in the 2003/2004 season with the U16 national team, followed by further appearances in various Young Talent national teams. He played a total of 91 times for the men's national team. One of his greatest international moments came at the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, when he reached the semifinals with Germany, ultimately finishing fourth and being selected to the tournament's All-Star Team.
