In their third international match of the World Cup preparations, the German men's national team defeated Slovakia. (Before 2.426 spectators) Fans The match in Kaufbeuren ended 3-1 (0-1, 2-0, 1-0). Both teams needed the early substitutions to find their rhythm. The visitors were significantly quicker to do so, thanks in part to two penalties against the German team. After failing to score on the first power play, Martin Fasko-Rudas scored on the second power play with a one-timer to give Slovakia a 1-0 lead (6th minute). Germany's first shot on goal wasn't recorded until over eight minutes had passed. The team, coached by Harold Kreis, had further opportunities but failed to find the net. Instead, the visitors continued to apply pressure, but the teams went into the locker room with Slovakia holding a narrow 1-0 lead.
The German team, however, got off to a perfect start in the second period. Hede intercepted a Slovakian pass at the blue line and, after just twelve seconds, scored his first international goal to tie the game at 1-1 (21st minute). DEBThe German men continued to dominate the game. They tested Slovakian goaltender Eugen Rabcan several times, who initially saved Nicolas Krämmer's shot in the 29th minute. However, Nino Kinder's immediate rebound found the back of the net, giving Germany a 2-1 lead. Shortly before the second intermission, Team Germany had their first power play.
After the second intermission, Germany's power play ended prematurely following another penalty against Germany. When the visitors were shorthanded again shortly after their power play, Daniel Fischbuch capitalized on the open space and scored to make it 3-1 (45th minute). Slovakia's offensive efforts benefited from further penalties. Meanwhile, Treutle made some impressive saves. Parato distinguish themselves and thus defend the 3:1 final score.
As the best player of the DEBNico Krämmer was honored in the selection.
The second encounter with the Slovakian team will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Kick-off at Augsburg's Curt-Frenzel-Stadium is at 17:00 PM. The international match will be broadcast live and free of charge on MagentaSport.
