Tobias Abstreiter will remain head coach of the German U20 national team. The German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB)DEBThe club has extended Tobias Abstreiter's contract for another year, continuing its long-standing collaboration with the 55-year-old. Abstreiter will therefore be responsible for the U20 national team at least until the end of the 2026/2027 season, which departs this Thursday for its World Cup preparation camp in the USA.
Tobias Abstreiter began his coaching career at DEB In the 2015/2016 season, he served as assistant to then-national coach Marco Sturm. Under national coach Toni Söderholm, the Landshut native subsequently held the same position before taking over as U20 national coach for the 2019/2020 season. Abstreiter assumed the head coach position of the U20 national team in their very first season after promotion to the Top Division – where the team has since established itself and reached the World Championship quarterfinals three times.
