Season opener: The U18 national team will travel to Trencin, Slovakia, on Friday, August 8, 2025, to compete in this year's Hlinka Gretzky Cup. For the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) it is already the fifth participation in this prestigious tournament in the young talent category. The Hlinka Gretzky Cup 2025 will be held in Trencin (SVK) and Brno (CZE). DEBThe team will compete in Group B in Trencin against Sweden, Slovakia, and the USA. The team, led by U18 national coach Andreas Becherer, will be based in nearby Piestany, where four ice sessions are planned before the tournament opener against Sweden on Monday, August 11, 2025.
The squad nominated by U18 national coach Andreas Becherer and his coaching staff consists of 23 players – three goalkeepers, seven defenders and 13 strikers.
In addition to Andreas Becherer, Robin Beckers (assistant coach), Adam Mitchell (assistant coach), Jan Kamenik (goalkeeper coach) and Artur Grass (athletic coach) form the coaching team for this year's Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
