Summer is here – and with it, our senior women's and young talent teams begin preparing for the new season. Several clinics, scouting events, and international competitions are scheduled for July and August. Here's a brief overview of the initial activities.
Joint season preparation for the U16 and U18 women
Our U16 and U18 women's teams will kick things off with a joint training camp from July 9th to 13th in Füssen. As part of the In:Prove project, sponsored by the BISp, both teams will undergo a performance assessment right at the start. The highlight of the summer program will be two internal test matches on July 11th and 13th, in which both teams will compete against each other. The Young Talents team, led by U18 women's national coach Sebastian Jones, will then travel to Fondo, Italy, at the end of August: an international tournament will serve as the first comparison of the season from August 25th to 30th.
World Cup preparation begins: U20 men in performance test and international match
The U20 men, under national coach Tobias Abstreiter, will also begin their preparations with a training camp in Füssen from July 17 to 22. Performance diagnostics with the Young Talent Team are also on the agenda. The first international test follows just a few days later: from July 28 to August 1, they face Slovakia in Kassel (on July 31 and August 1). Tickets are available from June 20 (14 p.m.) at https://tickets.nordhessen-arena.de/ .
U18 men with new national coach at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup
A special moment awaits the U18 men – the team will compete for the first time under the leadership of new national coach Andreas Becherer at the prestigious Hlinka Gretzky Cup from August 11 to 16 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In Group B in Trenčín, Germany will face Slovakia, Sweden, and the USA in three matches.
Screening and tournament start for U16 men in Füssen and Romanshorn
Young Talent National Coach Robin Beckers kicks off the U16 season's preseason with a scouting camp from July 30 to August 2 in Füssen. Following this, the U16 men's team will face their first international test: the 4-Nation Tournament in Romanshorn, Switzerland, from August 18 to 22.
Season opener with a view to the 2026 Olympics: A-women test in France
The German women's national team will also officially begin its new season in August. From August 25 to 31, the team, led by head coach Jeff MacLeod, will participate in an international tournament in Albertville, France. It is the first tough test in preparation for the sporting highlight of the season: the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
