As part of the admission process for the new 2025/2026 Oberliga season, 26 clubs, one more than last year, have submitted their binding registration. The deadline for this was May 31, 2025. Twelve clubs from the Oberliga North and 14 clubs from the Oberliga South have thus expressed their interest in participating in the upcoming season. The 26 clubs include the league participants from the previous season, plus the Selber Wölfe, the team relegated from the DEL2, and the potential promoted team, the Erding Gladiators. The reigning champions of the DEB-Oberliga, the Bietigheim Steelers, plan to compete in the DEL2 next season.

The documents relevant for participation in the game must now be submitted by the Oberliga candidates in good time – the deadline for this is Sunday, 15 June 2025. The submitted documents will then be processed by the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB), will be reviewed by the admissions committee, which will make a decision on the participants for the upcoming season by the end of July 2025 at the latest. After completing the review, the committee will inform the respective clubs of the results in writing.
