National player Marc Michaelis suffered a broken jaw in the preliminary round match against Denmark. In the 42nd minute of the game, the striker was hit in the face by a puck and immediately left the ice. The 29-year-old received first aid at the arena during the game and was transferred to a clinic in Herning that evening. The necessary surgery was successfully performed there yesterday, Wednesday.
The assistant captain of the DEB-Selection and captain of the Adler Mannheim can therefore return home to Germany promptly and make a full recovery.
