Comments on the quarter-final SVK – GER
DEB-Sports director Christian Künast: "Even though the team will be initially disappointed today given the close result, we congratulate our U18 team, led by national coach Patrick Reimer, for an overall strong World Cup tournament. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the national players and the entire staff for their exemplary efforts over the past few days. We have shown that we can compete at the level of the top division and also celebrate successes if we work together as a unit and adhere to the system of play. Nevertheless, we know that we must continue to work hard in the U18 division to secure future milestones like reaching the quarterfinals."
U18 national coach Patrick Reimer: "I think we lacked a bit of belief in our own strength today. I had the impression that we weren't able to hold our own mentally and physically for the first two and a half periods until our first goal. The team fought, but we didn't find our optimal game today, otherwise we would have had a good chance of winning. Nevertheless, the team can be proud of their performance throughout the entire World Cup."
Striker Elias Schneider: "We played well today and fought hard. We had many scoring opportunities, which we should have capitalized on better. The puck just wouldn't go into the opponent's net today. Nevertheless, we can be proud of our performance in this tournament."
