The German women’s national team has secured its second victory at the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship qualified for the quarterfinals. The team of women's national coach Jeff MacLeod defeated the Hungarian team 4-1 (0-0, 1-1, 3-0) in front of 3.415 spectators in the Budvar Arena in Budweis (CZE). Goal scorers for the DEB-Team were Nicola Hadraschek (2), Katarina Jobst Smith and Laura Kluge.
The German team started without any changes in the starting six, in lineup replaced Alexandra Boico Franziska Feldmeier, who left due to injury, made her debut. Anne Bartsch celebrated her 150th international appearance for the German women's national team.
The Hungarians surprised the DEB-Women in the first few minutes, but after a short warm-up phase, they came into the game strongly. Already in the second minute, Celina Haider narrowly missed the lead. After about ten minutes of play, first Emily Nix and shortly thereafter Ronja Hark to the penalty box. The double disadvantage survived the DEBThe team remained unscathed. Another good phase followed for the German women, who increasingly established themselves in the attacking third. Despite two power plays of their own, the first period ended scoreless.
The remaining penalty time of the first period also passed without a goal being scored. Defender Katarina Jobst Smith shot from the blue line and scored her second goal of the tournament. 2-1 lead (46th). Laura Kluge increased in the 50nd minute worth seeing with a backhand goal to 3:1. The Hungarians, who needed a win after regular time, offered little resistance. 59nd minute achieved Hadraschek Taj Empty-net goal 4-1 final score.
