The German U18 women's national team has won its first game at the 2025 IIHF World Championship Division 1A. Against Norway, the DEBselection of national coach Sebastian Jones a 4:1 victory. Goal scorers for the DEBThe team were Liv Betten, Emilija Birka, Nerea Stellet and Anabel Seyrer. Tomorrow (12:30) they will play against Austria.

The first half between the two teams was evenly matched at their World Cup start. At first, the Norwegians had a few more possessions, but the German defense around goalkeeper Tara Bach was on hand to stop the attacks. On the other side, the German team also had its first offensive actions after just over five minutes of play. Liv Betten (15th) used one of these scenes to give the DEB-Selection.

The second period began ideally for the German team. First, Emilija Birka (24th) in the power play and a little later Nerea Stellet (27th) were able to extend the lead. The Norwegians did come a little closer shortly afterwards through Kajsa Braten (29th). But that did not slow the German team down: Anabel Seyrer restored the old lead - another power play goal.

In the final third, it was the Norwegians who tried to make up the deficit. Kajsa Braten (46th) managed to reduce the deficit to two goals. But the DEBThe selection was not deterred by this and was particularly attentive in defence, which was also evident in the many blocked shots. The German team thus achieved its first victory at this World Cup.

U18 women’s national coach Sebastian Jones: "For us, this is a successful start to the tournament. We are very happy that we won the game. It took us a few minutes to get into the game. Our team fought its way into the game very well and the special teams scored the goals at the right time against a strong Norwegian team that is very physically robust. Our team found a way to keep the game fast and to pass the puck quickly under pressure. So we rewarded ourselves with the win."
