U16 men play 5-nation tournament in Chomutov (CZE)
On Christmas Day, the team led by U16 national coach Robin Beckers will be heading to Chomutov in the Czech Republic. An ice session is scheduled for the same evening before the tournament opener against Slovakia is scheduled for the following day. Other opponents in this 5-nation tournament are Switzerland, Finland and the host country, the Czech Republic. The journey home will take place directly after the final tournament match on Monday, December 30, 2024, so that the German team can celebrate the New Year at home.
U16 national coach Robin Beckers: "We are going to this 5-nation tournament to see many players in international competition and to develop them further. A total of eight players and goalkeepers are in the squad for the first time. We want to build on the content of the Finland measure, which will include, among other things, supporting each other well and quickly in order to generate easy passing options. For us, the tournament around Christmas is always very interesting from a sporting perspective, as we are playing against strong nations and can play four games in a very short space of time. This will be an enormous physical challenge for the players and therefore a good opportunity to develop at the absolute top level."

U18 men's national team travels to Switzerland for the 5-Nation Tournament
In order to shorten the journey, the team around U18 national coach Patrick Reimer will not meet at the national base in Füssen as usual, but in Villingen-Schwenningen. The first training session will take place on the ice of the Helios Arena on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. The next morning, the team will then continue by bus to Zuchwil (SUI), where the first game of the 5-nation tournament will take place in the afternoon. The opening opponent of the DEB-Young talent selection will be the team from Slovakia. In the following days, the U18 men will face Finland, the Czech Republic and the hosts from Switzerland.
U18 national coach Patrick Reimer: "We have nominated a slightly different squad compared to the previous training course. For us, the tournament is the last chance to get an overall overview, because by the next event in February we would like to have a relatively concrete idea of what our World Cup squad could look like. This tournament is a good indicator for us in this respect - strong opponents, many games in a short space of time and few rest breaks. So it will be interesting to see how the players will do under these conditions. We will once again be able to take away a lot of knowledge that will help us to take another step forward and play our best ice hockey at the peak of the season."
