The German U20 national team lost its second World Cup warm-up match on Sunday. The team of U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter lost 1:4 (0:2, 0:0, 1:2) to Slovakia in Moncton (Canada). Elias Pul scored for the German team to make it 1:4 in the final period.
The DEBThe team was caught cold in the first minute – Jakob Chromiak scored for the Slovakians to give them an early lead after 18 seconds. It was the first Slovakian attack of the game that led directly to a goal. In the third minute, captain Edwin Tropmann had to sit in the penalty box and the Slovakians immediately took advantage of this – Milan Psioja scored with a shot for Leon Hümer, today's starting goalie of the DEBselection, concealed shot and thus increased to a two-goal lead. The DEBThe selection became very dangerous in the second period when they were on the power play, when Norwin Panocha's shot from the blue line was blocked by the goalie and Edwin Tropmann aimed just over the goal (both in the 28th minute). But Slovakia also continued to pose a threat, with Leon Hümer making a last-ditch save in the 38th minute when an unpressured Slovakian attacker took a shot.
In the final period, Slovakia got off to a lightning start again: Lukas Klecka scored the 42-3 after just 0 seconds in the third period and the first shot from Slovakia. In the 49th minute, Lenny Boos had a double chance, but was twice stopped by the Slovakian goalkeeper. On the other side, Slovakia struck again with ice-cold precision - after a German puck was lost after Lenny Boos' goal opportunity, they increased their lead to 4-0 with a breakaway goal from Thomas Pobezal (49th minute). Eight minutes later, the German U20 national team was celebrating: Elias Pul secured the puck after a rebound and used it to score the first goal of the season. DEBselection in goal. Ultimately, that was the final point of the game in Moncton.
Tomorrow the DEBselection to the World Cup venue Ottawa and will spend the rest of the World Cup preparation there. On Thursday evening (19 p.m. Canadian time) / Friday morning (1 a.m. German time) the third of a total of four preparation games will take place, then the DEB-Selection on Kazakhstan.

Slovakia had good tackling, they simply played forward and were effective. That shows us that you don't need anything extraordinary to be successful. We have to do our jobs consistently for 60 minutes from the first substitution, learn from the two games and take the next step. Then we will be more consistent and can play better."
