The DEBThe women's team lost 2:3 after extra time (1:0, 0:1, 1:1, 0:1) to Norway on Thursday evening. It was the first of two international matches against Norway in Füssen. Nina Christof and Franziska Feldmeier scored for the team of women's national coach Jeff MacLeod.
From the beginning, the DEBteam took control of the game and made their mark with some good opportunities. After eight minutes, Nina Christof managed to take the lead 1-0 when she deflected a shot from Jule Schiefer. In the power play two minutes later, the German women created more great chances, but failed to score any more goals. The rest of the first period also remained goalless.
The Norwegians started the second period with momentum. But the DEBThe team quickly found its way back and repeatedly established itself in the visitors' third. After around 30 minutes, the German women got the next power play. Luisa Welcke had several good direct shots, which Ena Nystrøm in the Norwegian goal was able to parry. On the other side, Sandra Abstreiter showed her skills in the German goal, but was unable to prevent the Norwegians from equalizing in the 39th minute. Marthe Pabsdorff Brunvold kept an overview in the hustle and bustle in front of the goal and scored the 1:1 equalizer.
After the second half, the German women wanted to force a quick lead. But the slow pace initially brought no success. It was not until the 49th minute that Franziska Feldmeier put Team Germany back in the lead with a solo run. Six minutes before the end, the German build-up failed in their own third, which Andrea Dalen used to equalize for the Norwegians at 2:2.
Extra time did not bring a decision. Andrea Dalen scored the winning goal in the penalty shootout.
