The German women’s national team won 3-1 against Hungary in Landshut on Saturday afternoon and celebrated in front of 3.070 Fans the first win of the women's tournament as part of Deutschland Cups. The goalscorers for the team of women's national coach Jeff MacLeod were Emily Nix, Jule Schiefer and Nicola Hadraschek.
From the beginning, the DEB-Women put their stamp on the game and had their first chances to score early on through Katharina Häckelsmiller, who dangerously deflected a shot from the blue line, and Ronja Hark, who was in a good position to shoot. On the other hand, the guests failed with a counterattack against Sandra Abstreiter in the German goal. While the first power play ended without a goal, the German team was more successful in the second power play: Emily Nix kept her composure directly in front of the Hungarian goal and pushed the puck into the goal for a 1-0 lead at halftime (15th).
The German team also had the game under control for long stretches in the second period and had another power play after four minutes. This, as well as the two Hungarian power plays in a row, during which Germany even had three players in the penalty box, remained goalless. Just under six minutes before the second break, Jule Schiefer converted the rebound after a shot by Laura Kluge to make it 2-0 (34th).
In the third period, the Germans continued their strong play and had a good opportunity through Laura Kluge and Nicola Hadraschek. Shortly afterwards, Carina Strobel had to go to the penalty box, the penalty killing of the DEBThe team remained goalless again. The game became exciting after the Hungarians scored to make it 2-1 in the 53rd minute, shortly after the end of the power play. Another penalty made things difficult for the German women, but they were able to hold on to their lead until the end. Hadraschek's empty-net goal put the final point (60th).
With the third win in the third game, the DEBwomen won the tournament for the first time.
