To kick off the Deutschland Cup In 2024, the German men's national team lost 5:6 to Denmark after a penalty shootout. The Danes got off to a better start in the middle third and equalized in the 24th minute through Nick Olesen to make it 4:4. After that, both teams equalized, but no further goals were scored. In the 34th minute, Lean Bergmann received a game misconduct penalty after a check from behind. In the following shorthanded game, Stefan Loibl managed to regain the lead for the German team after a pass from Tom Kühnhackl in Landshut co-production (33rd). Stachowiak hit the outside post shortly before half-time, the German 5:4 lead.
The final third began with a German power play, but this did not result in any more goals. Instead, the Danes scored the next goal in the 46th minute when they were on the power play: Nick Olesen scored for the second time that evening, equalizing the game again. The overtime also remained goalless. The penalty shootout brought the decision through Olesen.
