The women of the U16 and U18 women’s national teams will open the DEB-Ice hockey season 2024/25 in Füssen. From Wednesday, July 10th to Sunday, July 14th, 2024, both teams will meet for their summer training courses at the federal base in Ostallgäu. The training course for both teams ends on Sunday afternoon with a final game between the U16 and the U18 women's national team.
U16 women’s national team with eleven debutants
Honorary national coach Christoph Höhenleitner and his coaching team have invited four goalkeepers and 24 field players to Füssen, eleven of whom will be taking part in a DEB-measure. The five-day course includes both ice and athletic training. In addition, there will be several theoretical parts for the young talent players in the lecture hall. The measure also includes a two-part athletic test.
U18 women’s national team: Sebastian Jones’ coaching debut
Sebastian Jones will also meet with his team at the Olympic training center in Füssen for his debut as U18 women's national coach. Four goalkeepers and 24 field players will be on site during the five-day scouting course. In addition to one or two units on the ice every day, athletic training and theory lessons are also scheduled. The program will be rounded off by an athletic test and individual discussions with all players.
Honorary national coach Christoph Höhenleitner: "We will mainly have players from the 2009 and 2010 age groups with us in Füssen. We want to get an overview of how the athletes have developed in the last few months. There will also be new players who have never taken part in a national team event, and we will get to know them in the next few days. Another important point will be to convey the values of the DEB , especially to those who have never taken part in one of our courses. In addition, we want to continue to drive the general development of the team both off and on ice. We will also give the players some input on what they can work on outside of the measures with the help of their club coaches."
U18 women’s national coach Sebastian Jones: "I already know almost half of the players who will be taking part in the current event from my work as an assistant coach last season. I will now get to know the other half in Füssen. It is important to me to see all the players in person and to see what their current level of performance is. It is therefore a great advantage that we can have more players at this event than at other training courses or tournaments, so that we can get a good overall overview. One of the goals of this event will be to discuss where we currently stand and to gain insights into how we can align the squad for the coming season. For me personally, it will be the first official event as U18 women's national coach. As head coach, you have a completely different responsibility, but I am really looking forward to it."
