Korbinian Holzer has announced his retirement from the national team. The 36-year-old defender has made a total of 91 international appearances during his successful career in the German jersey.
Already in the U16 he ran for the DEBselection and went through all the other young talent levels up to the men's national team. In total, the former NHL player took part in seven world championships for Germany and was one of the Olympic teams of the years 2010 and 2022.
He was also part of the DEB-Team, which in 2016 Olympic qualification in Riga (Latvia), securing Team Germany's participation in the 2018 Olympic Games. At the 2021 World Championships, Holzer was selected to the tournament's All-Star Team.
Defender Korbinian Holzer: "It was always an honor for me to wear the national team jersey and I loved being able to represent Germany in this way. Ultimately, a childhood dream has come true, which I was able to fill with an incredible number of wonderful encounters and moments. I would like to thank all the players, coaches and staff members for the great time we spent together and the fun we had together. I will miss it. It was simply the sensible step for me at this point in time. I will continue to keep my fingers crossed for the national team and am sure that they will continue to be the positive figurehead of our sport in the future."
