As part of the admission process for the upcoming Oberliga season 2024/25, 25 clubs have submitted their binding registration. The deadline for this was May 31, 2024. Twelve clubs from the Oberliga North and 13 clubs from the Oberliga South have thus expressed their interest in participating in the upcoming season. The 25 clubs include the league participants from the previous season, plus the sporting relegation from the DEL2, the Bietigheim Steelers. The reigning champion of the DEB-Oberliga, the Blue Devils Weiden, will compete in the DEL2 next season and are therefore no longer part of the third highest league in German ice hockey.

The documents required for participation in the game must now be submitted by the Oberliga candidates in good time - the deadline for submitting this is tomorrow, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 23:59 p.m. The documents provided will then be processed by the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB), examined by the approval committee. This consists of the DEB-Lawyer, the DEB-Vice President (responsible for leagues), the Head of Game Operations and the Commercial Director of DEB-Leagues. After completing the examination, the committee will inform the respective club of the result in writing.
According to plan, the final league composition for the coming season should be fixed in the course of July 2024 in order to provide both the participating clubs and the DEB-To ensure that league officials have sufficient planning and lead time for the 2024/25 season.
