National coach Harold Kreis: “It's obviously a pleasure when the team plays such good, disciplined ice hockey. We had a lot of good combinations from the defensive zone today that led to the goal. It was a really effective ice hockey game that we also had a lot of fun with as a group. We are now more aggressive in the defensive zone than at the start of the tournament, winning the targets quicker and protecting our goal better. This allows us to take the pressure off ourselves and then gives us the energy to start more offensive actions. The team has internalized this and will hopefully continue this tomorrow against Poland.”
Striker Lukas Reichel: “We played a good game today as a whole team and it was a lot of fun. We are becoming more and more attuned to each other. It was also important that we continued to play forward despite being in the lead and score more goals. We also did a good job defensively today and we also developed opportunities offensively. Every row performed well, which gives us confidence for the next games. We just have fun together on the ice and we want to keep it that way. Nevertheless, it is of course hard work, but we are all ready for it.”
