The Men's national team of the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund. V (DEB) will be reinforced by three NHL players next week: goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer (Seattle Kraken) and the two strikers John-Jason Peterka (Buffalo Sabers) and Nico Sturm (San José Sharks) will join the team in the fourth World Cup preparation phase DEB-Selection.
The team of national coach Harold Kreis will meet in Wolfsburg on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 to play the final international matches of the World Cup preparations against France. These will take place on Saturday, May 4th in Wolfsburg (14:00 p.m.) and Monday, May 6th, 2024 in Weißwasser (19:30 p.m.). From Weißwasser the team makes its way to the World Cup venue Ostrava (CZE). The first World Cup preliminary round game for the national team is scheduled there on Friday, May 10th. The opponent is Slovakia, the game starts at 16:20 p.m.
DEB-Sports director Christian Künast: "Now that we have already received their personal confirmation, all the necessary formalities have been completed. We are therefore looking forward to JJ, Nico and Philipp joining us next week and welcoming them as part of the national team. They will bring their personalities and qualities to the team in the immediate preparation for the World Cup in the Czech Republic, which we will be taking place in Wolfsburg and Weißwasser from Wednesday."
