The men's national team secured its second victory in preparation for the World Cup. At the Olympic Ice Sports Center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, national coach Harold Kreis' team was successful 4-2 against Austria. 5.058 spectators saw a hard-fought game in which the DEB-Selection had the upper hand in the end. DEBMarc Michaelis was the player of the evening.
The first third started for that DEB-Team had their first good opportunity after almost 90 seconds, when Leon Hüttl got caught by Austrian goalie David Kickert at the near post. The guests also had their chances, for example through Kilian Zündel, who shot freely in the slot in the seventh minute. But the first goal was scored by that DEBteam through Marc Michaelis, who brought a pass from Yasin Ehliz directly onto the goal in the eighth minute. His shot deflected off the skate of an Austrian defender and slid over the line. After a shot off the post in the eleventh minute, Dominik Kahun controlled the rebound and was able to pass to Michaelis, who scored again with a direct shot and made it 2-0. Almost four minutes before the break, the Austrians stormed on with a 2-on-1 counterattack DEB-Goalie Tobias Ancicka: Instead of playing the cross pass, Benjamin Baumgartner shot himself and put the subsequent rebound in to make it 2-1 DEB-Goal.
In the middle third they saw Fans still a fast game in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. However, it took some time for new scoring opportunities to arise. After 30 minutes, Harold Kreis changed goalkeepers. Florian Bugl came in for Ancicka DEB-Goal. At about the same time, the Austrian selection noticeably increased the pressure and took control of the game. The guests repeatedly put the German selection in trouble, so the equalizer in the 38th minute by Lukas Kainz was logical.
The Austrians continued like this after the second break. Again and again they came into the German third at speed and looked for a quick finish. There was nothing compelling about it and so in the end it was the team's better use of opportunities that decided DEB-Select the lot. In the 50th minute, Stachowiak passed the target from the wing into the middle. Daniel Fischbuch converted the follow-up shot and gave them the lead again DEB-Selection. Just a minute later there was a penalty against Austria after a stick strike. Parker Tuomie took advantage of the power play after a remarkable series of passes to take the lead 4-2. Another power play for that DEB-Team shortly before the break failed to score and so the first game between the two neighboring countries ended with a German 4-2 victory.
Both teams will meet again in Zell am See (AUT) on Saturday. The game starts at 16:15 p.m. This game will also be broadcast live and free of charge on MagentaSport.
