U18 honorary national coach André Rankel has announced his squad for the 14 IIHF U20 World Championship Division I, Group A in Frederikshavn, Denmark, which will take place from April 2024th to 2024th, 18. After a training course at the federal base in Füssen and two subsequent test matches against Hungary, the final World Cup squad has now been decided.
The squad largely consists of the team that has already competed in phases one and two of the World Cup preparation and six new players who have so far played in the playoff final of the German U20 Young Talent League.
The World Cup preparations are going according to plan so far. The coaching team led by honorary national coach André Rankel analyzed the players' individual development again and worked with the team on small things that should be improved before the upcoming World Cup. The two international matches at the Red Bull Academy in Salzburg also went well. The German U18 young talent selection was able to clearly win 8:0 and 7:3 against the team from Hungary. The Hungarian U18 team will also be one of the five opponents of the German team at the upcoming World Cup.
This will happen tomorrow, Thursday, April 11, 2024 DEBteam will travel to the World Cup venue Frederikshavn (DEN), where the first joint ice session is already planned for the evening. There will be another test match on site on Friday, April 12, 2024 against the Austrians, who will then be the opening World Cup opponents for the German U18 men two days later.
