At the start of the preparation for the 2024 IIHF U18 World Championship Division I, Group A in Frederikshavn (DEN), the German U18 national team will meet in Füssen on Monday, April 1, 2024. At the federal base in Ostallgäu, the team of U18 honorary national coach André Rankel has, among other things, six ice sessions on the program in phase one before they move on to Salzburg (AUT) on Friday, April 5th.
In phase two of the World Cup preparation, the German U18 men are guests at the Red Bull Academy. Several on and off training sessions and a team event are planned here. In addition, the DEB-Young talent selection will play a test match against Hungary on Sunday, April 7th and Tuesday, April 9th, 2024. The Hungarian U18 team will also be one of the five opponents of the German team at the upcoming World Cup.
After the two test matches have been completed, the coaching team will announce the final squad for the U18 World Cup. Until then, the players who are still involved in the playoffs of the German U20 Young Talent League will also be available.
On Thursday, April 11, 2024 DEB-Selection from Munich on the way to the World Cup venue. The team will fly to Billund, Denmark, and travel the rest of the way in a bus ride of around three hours. There will be another test match against the Austrians in Frederikshavn on Friday, April 12, 2024, who will then be the German U18 men's opening World Cup opponents two days later.
