Current statement from the Deutscher Eishockey-Bund. V (DEB) on the temporary exclusion of Israeli teams from participating in upcoming IIHF tournaments:
“Yesterday we received a message from the IIHF world association about the security concerns and the associated temporary exclusion of the Israeli teams from the upcoming IIHF tournaments. There are none at the events in question DEB-Teams are involved and we are not involved in organizing the events. Therefore, after receiving the statement, we immediately addressed the matter and consulted with the IIHF. We particularly questioned the justification “security concerns”.
We generally take the safety of athletes and all other participants and spectators very seriously. We are dismayed that the Israeli national teams will not be able to take part in the upcoming tournaments. At the same time we set ourselves up as DEB We ensure that this situation remains a one-off exception and will continue to communicate with everyone involved. For the DEB There is no question that we stand firmly on the side of Israel and the Israeli association.”
