The 4th Winter Youth Olympic Games will take place in Gangwon Province, South Korea starting Friday, January 19, 2024. The best young talented athletes in the world will compete here in 1 different winter sports until February 15st. The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) will take part in the competition with a women's young talent selection. The team around honorary national coach Christoph Höhenleitner will only get involved in the second week of the 2024 Youth Olympic Games. On January 24th, the German team will travel to South Korea - on January 28th they will take to the ice for the start of the tournament against the French.
Honorary national coach Christoph Höhenleitner:"The squad nomination took place in collaboration with the U18 women's national coach Franziska Busch. According to the DOSB statutes, we are allowed to take 15 plus three players with us to South Korea. We are already competing at the Youth Olympics with certain ambitions and don't want to travel all that far just for two games. Our goal is to reach the semi-finals and, if everything goes well, to bring home a medal. The tournament is a really great opportunity for our young players to get a taste of the Olympic atmosphere and of course we want to perform well there."
