Welcome to the anniversary edition – Episode 50! A big thank you to you, our loyal listeners, for 50 fantastic episodes – here's to the next 50 adventures!
In today's edition we go on a journey of discovery together through the redefinition of education as part of a thought experiment. We invited a guest who was already there in episode 16. We are talking about Prof. Dr. Filip Mess. Filip is a professor of sports and health didactics at the Technical University of Munich and has long been involved in topics such as education, health and sport. And that's why our guest is exactly the right person to philosophize about the following thought experiment.
Our experiment is about first assuming that there are no educational institutions and then attempting to completely reinvent them. We are embarking on a journey to hypothetically completely reinvent education and educational institutions in order to uncover weaknesses in the current system and define potential improvements. Among other things, it is also about showing what role sport can and should have. Since our current system in Germany has significant deficits in this area, we are discussing how sport could be better integrated.
At the beginning of the thought experiment, we first talk generally about Filip's understanding of education. In order to reinvent education, we realize that current systems that are based on rigid subjects, age structures and school types must first be dissolved in order to enable project- and solution-oriented, self-determined learning.
According to Filip, education cannot start early enough. The earlier early childhood education begins, the greater the chances for individual and social effects. Educational processes can be initiated at the age of one to three and society and the individual benefit massively from this. We must also not forget that the earlier education begins, the greater the prospects of educational opportunities and educational equality.
We are not only talking about new forms of education, but also about the tasks and characteristics of teaching institutions and teaching staff. Which ParaYou can find out more about what can be drawn from ice hockey and sport in general and what role sport plays in this thought experiment in our 50th episode. Have fun with it Listen.
