U20 national coach Tobias Abstreiter and his team DEB-Young talent selection lost their last of four World Cup test games 5:6 nV against Slovakia on Friday evening. The goals on the German side were scored by Vadim Schreiner (13th and 19th), Veit Oswald (39th and 40th) and Linus Brandl (43rd).

Vadim Schreiner set the first mark with his goal in the 13th minute. Thanks to Niklas Hübner's assist, he sank the disc into the opponent's goal to make it 1-0 DEB-Team. The German U20 national team put increasing pressure on the Slovakian goal. Six minutes later, Schreiner scored again thanks to Julian Lutz's assist. The German team went into the first break with a 2-0 lead.
In the second third, the Slovaks gained a lot of momentum and scored the first goal through a power play from Adam Sykora. In the 30th minute the Slovaks equalized 2-2 and the team was able to breathe a sigh of relief thanks to Alex Ciernik. However, Germany didn't let up and took the upper hand in this game again. With a double strike from Veit Oswald in the 39th and 40th minutes, the German U20 national team took a 4-2 lead.
Things should continue quickly in the last 20 minutes of this encounter. Linus Brandl brought them DEB-Selection once again celebrated with his goal in the 43rd minute. The Slovaks now tried to find a way back into the game with enormous pressure. They also achieved this with three goals from Filip Mesar (44th), Samuel Honzek (50th) and Maxim Strbak (52nd). This meant that Germany's World Cup preparation went into extra time for the third time. Here the German striker Vadim Schreiner had to sit in the penalty box for two minutes because of a high stick. The Slovaks punished this mistake coldly and left the ice as winners 6:5 after just under three minutes thanks to Dalibor Dvorsky's goal.
The 26 IIHF U2024 World Championship officially starts on December 20th in Gothenburg, Sweden. The German team will play their first preliminary round game in Group A on December 27th in Scandinavium against Finland.
