The German women's national team lost the final game on Saturday afternoon Deutschland Cup against the previously unbeaten Czechs with 0:8 (0:3, 0:1, 0:4). There were no personnel changes for the encounter - all 22 players from yesterday's game were also in the German roster today. As in the opening game, Sandra Abstreiter started in goal.
The German team had a good start to the game with the support of the 3.007 spectators. Laura Kluge narrowly missed the lead right from the start. This was followed by the first penalty time against Germany, which still remained without a goal. After a mistake in the change, that had to happen DEBThe team was outnumbered again immediately afterwards. Noemi Neubauerova took advantage of this to take a 1-0 lead. Unimpressed by this, the German women continued to play forward. Lucia Schmitz moved in front of the goal in one scene, but was denied by Czech Republic goalkeeper Klara Peslarova. In the ninth minute the DEBDefense Sara Cajanova had too much space, which she used to score the Czech team's second goal. Nici Eisenschmid and Laura Kluge had a double chance. But the two power plays gave women's national coach Jeff MacLeod's team great chances: Emily Nix shot at goal from close range, but it got stuck. Nici Eisenschmid's follow-up shot was then parried by goalkeeper Klara Peslarova. In the final minute, Vendula Pribylova scored the Czech Republic's fourth goal.
The Czechs got off to a lightning start in the final third. Denisa Krizova sneaked behind the German defensive line and made it 5-0. Sandra Abstreiter had no chance. After a blocked shot on the blue line, the Czech Republic countered the Germans. Abstreiter parried the first shot, but couldn't grab the rebound, so Barbora Jurickova made it 0:6 (50'). They lost just 55 seconds later DEB-Women got the puck in the neutral zone, so that the Czechs counterattacked again and scored 0:7 through Tereza Plosova. The final point in the power play was Katerina Mrazova with a one-timer to make the final score 0:8.
The Czechs remain undefeated in this tournament and thus win the first Deutschland Cup the women. The DEBteam takes third place behind Finland. The Danish selection came in fourth place.
