Successful start to the men's national team Deutschland Cup 2023: With a 4:1 (0:0, 1:1, 3:0) against Denmark, national coach Harold Kreis' team achieved their first success in Landshut. In front of 2.223 spectators in the Fanatec Arena, Leo Pföderl, Colin Ugbekile, Alexander Ehl and Maximilian Eisenmenger were the goal scorers for them DEB-Selection.
After Harold Kreis had already announced in advance that he would use all three goalkeepers in the squad, Arno Tiefensee was given his playing time today. Striker Tobias Rieder led the team onto the ice as captain, with Yasin Ehliz and Leo Pföderl at his side as his assistants. A total of eight defenders and twelve strikers were used.

In the 26th minute came the DEBteam then quickly got into the attacking third with a nice passing combination. Joshua Samanski's shot was deflected and landed on Leo Pföderl's skate, from whom the puck slid unstoppably into the goal. The goal gave the German team a boost after the Danes' strong opening minutes, meaning that the national team had more of the game again. Mikkel Aagaard had the best chance to equalize in the 30th minute, when he appeared alone in front of Tiefensee, but had no chance. In the 35th minute, Yasin Ehliz narrowly missed the second German goal while they were shorthanded. Shortly before half-time, the build-up play in the German third failed, which the Danes took advantage of ice-coldly through Patrick Russell to equalize and make it 1-1 at half-time.
Again the Danes had the better start to the third - also thanks to their power play. A penalty in the 46th minute against Colin Ugbekile didn't make Germany's attacking efforts any easier. Although the Danes were unsuccessful in the majority, they used the momentum even after the penalty time to put the German defense under further pressure. The first penalty against the guests provided relief. While Yasin Ehliz narrowly missed twice, Colin Ugbekile fired his shot from the blue line straight into the goal to make the final score 2-1. The second German power play also caused a lot of work in the Danish defense. Seldrup held his team with his Parathe further in the game. Almost two minutes before the end, Landshut native Alexander Ehl made the decision with his eighth international goal. Maximilian Eisenmenger made the final score 27-4 1 seconds before the siren. Colin Ugbekile was voted player of the evening.
The next women's matchday is on the agenda in Landshut tomorrow, Friday.
