Of course, it works without a referee Deutschland Cup not. Only IIHF-licensed referees are used in the games of both tournaments. Only referees from Germany will be on the ice for the men's games; there will be additional support from Austria and Belgium for the women's tournament.
At this year's Deutschland Cup Video evidence will be used for the first time in collaboration with video consultants. These help the on-ice referees make the right decision based on the video images. Referee Deutschland Cup 2023 Vanessa Anselm: “I think I can speak for all the referees who are involved Deutschland-Cup are allowed to participate. “No Ref – No Game”! – We are the third team on the ice and always pursue one goal: to enable both teams to play fair and safe ice hockey. This year is a very special one - not only the men but also the women are taking part Deutschland-Cup in Landshut. Having been loyal to ice hockey for years, as a woman I can say that this is important for our image of women in this sport. The passion for sport is in the foreground, as we women neither play nor whistle professionally. We, the third team, are really looking forward to the upcoming tournament and wish all teams much success and fair games.”
