A few weeks before the start of Deutschland Cup 2023 in Landshut (November 8th to 12th, 2023) has national coach Harold Kreis at DTM finale in Hockenheim looked behind the scenes and watched the race live on site last Saturday. Since 2023, the internationally renowned racing series has been presented by the ADAC as organizer. The season finale with races 15 and 16 takes place this weekend.
Before the 28 DTM drivers took their turn, Kreis himself completed two fast laps around the 4,574 km long circuit - of course only as a passenger in the racing taxi. After a short breather, the 64-year-old went for the grid walk to the starting line-up. There he met driver Kelvin van der Linde for a short talk, after which the 64-year-old was available as an interview partner for the TV broadcast on ProSieben and Stadium TV. A minute before the start he was given the honor of holding up the “Drivers – Start Your Engines” sign. After an exciting race, which the Austrian Thomas Preining won, the national coach was given a pit tour of the Abt Sportsline team and thus gained insights into the team work behind the scenes.
National coach Harold Kreis: "Thank you to everyone who gave me an exciting insight today and organized my visit to the DTM finale. The ride around the course in the race taxi was very impressive. The acceleration in particular is great. But at some point the braking comes, which was rather exhausting. Two laps were enough for me. It was particularly interesting for me to see how a motorsport team works and the precision with which they work to ultimately get a few hundredths of a second out of it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for everyone involved and the drivers for tomorrow's final race of the season."
