The German U16 national team remains winless in their October meeting in Vierumäki, Finland. The team led by U16 national coach Robin Beckers traveled to Scandinavia from October 9th to 15th, 2023 to, in addition to several training sessions, also play three international matches against the Finnish young talent selection. After intensive preparation, with the team being newly formed in some areas, it was time to test the players and introduce them to the international level.
U16 national coach Robin Beckers: “We haven't yet been able to cope with the high pressure and pace of the game. But we were able to improve significantly in the second game and stayed in a balanced position for a long time. In the last of the three international matches we were in the game for 40 minutes, the players gave their last shirt in the fight for targets and shot blocks and, despite the defeat, earned the respect of the Finnish team. At this top level and at this high speed, we have to learn to make decisions faster and take on duels harder and better. Overall, there was already a clear learning curve.”
