The last game of the women's 4-nation tournament, in which the hosts Switzerland would have played against the German team, had to be canceled. The reason for this was an acute gastrointestinal illness DEB-Team.
“Under these circumstances, a fair game is not possible,” says Lars Weibel, Director of Sport at Swiss Ice Hockey and responsible for the Swiss women's national team"We cannot be responsible for the athletes by playing a game in this situation."
The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund and the Swiss Association exchanged views on this as quickly as possible and together they came to the decision to cancel the game scheduled for Saturday evening.
“It was the right decision for the sake of the sport and the players,” said DEB-Sports director Christian Künast. “We thank the Swiss Association for their understanding and support.”
