Moritz Seider strengthens the national team before the start of the World Cup on Friday. The NHL defender from the Detroit Red Wings will join the team in Munich this Monday evening and join the team DEB-Selection for the trip to the 2023 IIHF World Championship in Finland and Latvia.
DEB-Sports director Christian Künast: “After the discussions immediately after the end of the NHL season, there was further contact between Moritz and us. He has now signaled to us that he has fully recovered from his injuries in time and feels 100 percent ready to go to the World Cup. There was no question for us about including him in the World Cup squad before we left for Finland. We are pleased that we can rely on his commitment and energy at the coming tournament and that he will strengthen our team. The Detroit Red Wings have also given their approval, so nothing stands in the way of his World Cup appearance.”
In the game against the USA on Tuesday evening Moritz Seider not yet used. She travels on Wednesday morning DEB-Selection to Tampere. The tournament starts next Friday. Germany meets Sweden at the start (19:20 p.m. German time).
