Dustin Strahlmeier made his first appearance in goal during the ongoing World Cup preparations. Defender Marcus Weber and striker Tim Fleischer returned to the national team, but this time defender Julius Karrer and striker Dominik Kahun were sidelined.
In the first section the game shares were initially evenly divided. Both teams had their scenes on offense, and Dustin Strahlmeier also had the opportunity to excel. The difference in the first period was made by the power play: After the German team had survived a first penalty time, Pavol Regenda (18th) took the lead in the hosts' second power play. This lasted until the first break.
The first part of the second period initially belonged to the Slovaks: 27 seconds after the restart, Richard Panik scored the second goal for his colors, two minutes later Daniel Fischbuch (23rd) brought the German team close again. As a result, the Slovaks continued to push the pace, so that Pavol Regenda (28th) restored the two-goal gap. But in the final minutes they fought back DEB-Selection brilliantly back into the game. First it was Daniel Fischbuch (40th) who beat the Slovakian goalkeeper after a nice counterattack. With the final second it was captain Moritz Müller who caused celebration on the German bench with the equalizer.
In the final section there was DEB-Selection set the tone over long stretches and was often able to prevent the Slovakian attacks. Only the winning goal, which was deserved at this point, failed to materialize until the end of regular time. The final point of an overall balanced game is still the DEB-Selection: The German team was awarded a power play in overtime. And Mo Müller (62nd) took advantage of this to score his second goal of the evening.
With two wins under their belt, the German national team began their journey home from Slovakia. Next Wednesday it will meet DEB-Selection for the fourth and final preparatory measure in Munich.
