On Saturday afternoon, the German U18 national team lost their second game in the best-of-3 relegation series against Norway 2-3 in Ajoie and was thus relegated from the top division of the U18 World Cup.
Germany had to win the game to keep their chance of staying in the league. As a result, the power play came in handy in the second minute. The DEB-Team quickly settled down so that Julius Marsh was able to lay the disc perfectly for Norwin Panocha. His slap shot found the net to make it 1-0. The Norwegians then came to their first outnumbered situation, which they were able to use directly to equalize through Jørgen Myhre (6th).
At the start of the middle third, Elias Pul had two good opportunities. But then a penalty period followed DEB-Team. The Norwegians struck again in the power play. A shot from the blue line was deflected, Nico Pertuch in the German goal had no chance and Philip Hagen scored the goal to make it 2-1. More penalty times against the German U18 team gave the Norwegians more play and more flow. In the 34th minute, Amandus Klungtveit made the score 3-1.
In the final period, the German team had its back against the wall. In the opening minutes of the period, the team of U18 national coach Alexander Dück had some good chances, but was unable to capitalize on them. Even with the power play, no more goals were scored. Three minutes before the end, goalie Nico Pertuch left the goal for the sixth field player. The power play that resulted from this only resulted in the goal being scored after 9,4 seconds. In the end, the score was 2:3 from the German perspective.
This means that the U18 national team is relegated from the top division. Among the best DEBPlayers of the tournament were Nico Pertuch, Norwin Panocha and Julius Marsh.
