The international match weekend in Füssen is over and another step towards the World Cup has been taken. Two international matches against Italy took place last weekend at the Federal Performance Center in Füssen.
The German team lost the first game 2:3. The Italians took the lead almost 10 seconds before the first period and went into the second period with a 0-1 deficit. In the second third the team created one chance after another, but the puck wouldn't go behind the line. The German team was also better in the final third, but a mistake in substitution was punished and Italy took the lead 0-2. The team continued to fight and managed to score the next goal and a deserved equalizer a short time later. The goals were scored by Steven Betz and Ingo Kuhli-Lauenstein. Steven Betz scored his first goal for the national team. Good chances were not taken advantage of and 40 seconds before the end, Italy scored the 2-3 winner.
Things went much better in the second game. The German team showed from the first minute that they wanted to win this game. Bernhard Hering scored the 1-0 lead in the majority. Italy equalized a short time later. But Lucas Sklorz had the right answer and put the German team back in the lead. Not much happened in the second third. The team of
National coach Andreas Pokorny missed many chances to score. The last 15 minutes were exciting again. Frank Rennhack had the opportunity to make it 3-1, but he missed the penalty. Five minutes before the end, Frank Rennhack made it 3-1 and thus the final score.
National coach Andreas Pokorny: “We were the better team in both games and had a lot of chances that we unfortunately didn't take advantage of. Our use of opportunities needs to be significantly better and we need to be even more stable defensively. In general I am very satisfied with the team performance.”
Preparations for the World Cup are in full swing. A total of two measures are still on the plan. On April 28th, the national team will fly to Moss (Norway), where there will be three international matches against Norway.
The final course will take place in Wesel from May 12th to 14th.
On May 25th we will travel from Frankfurt to Moose Jaw.
