Second game against Austria within two days, this time they had to DEB-Selection accept a defeat: In front of 4.048 spectators in Landshut (sold out), the game ended 2:3 after a penalty shootout from the national team's perspective. The goal scorers were Maximilian Kammerer (12th) and Nico Sturm (41st).
Arno Tiefensee made his first appearance in goal, with Tobias Ancicka standing by as backup. Striker Nico Sturm also celebrated his first senior international match after the NHL striker from the San José Sharks joined the team on Thursday evening. The two strikers Dominik Bokk, Alexander Karachun, defender Moritz Wirth and goalkeeper Maximilian Franzreb were not there today.

On the other hand, Arno Tiefensee also excelled when the guests went it alone. There was also a lot of work for the special teams on both sides as several penalties were given to both sides in the middle third. Austria used one of them again when Henrik Neubauer put his colors in the lead again in the 29th minute of the game. It stayed like that until the second break.
The DEB-Selection got off to a perfect start in the final section. The puck came to Nico Sturm (41') via Zimmermann and Kammerer, who moved towards the goal from the side and equalized 2-2 with a well-placed shot into the corner. First international goal in first appearance! As a result, the German team had more of the game, while the guests made far fewer attacks than in the first two periods. After a tough tackle on Nico Sturm, the Austrians received a big penalty. In the final phase it got heated again on the ice, and the German team in particular had some good scoring scenes. But no more goals were scored - not even in extra time. The guests proved to be accurate in the penalty shootout and ultimately won the game.
The next two international matches in Slovakia's World Cup preparations are on the agenda next week: on Friday, April 27th at 17:30 p.m. in Žilina and on Saturday, April 28th at 14:30 p.m. in Trenčín.
