In the second game at the U18 World Cup, the U18 team lost 1:7 against the Czech Republic. This means the team has to continue to wait for their first point in this tournament.
After the game against Canada on Friday, the motto on Saturday afternoon was to take fewer penalties. But the plan to stay away from the penalty box was thwarted after 16 seconds of play: Julius Sumpf had to go to the penalty box for tripping. The Czechs then needed almost the full two minutes to get into attacking formation and scored 1:0 through Adam Zidlicky (3rd). The Czechs then established themselves in the German third. Up until then, Valentin Ankirchner in the German goal was able to thwart their chances.
After a good ten minutes, Vadim Schreiner created the first opportunity for Germany, but was stopped with a foul, so that DEB-Selection was able to act in the power play for the first time. But a lost face-off opened up a solo effort for Czech Eduard Sale, which he converted to make it 0-2. Three minutes later Jakub Stancl was awarded a penalty, with which Sale made it 0-3 (14th). With its second power play of the afternoon, U18 national coach Alexander Dück's team achieved a little more offensive scenes. But it remained 0:3 at the first break.
After the break, things went quickly again from the Czechs' point of view: Jakub Dvorak had too much space on the left and scored 0:4 (21st). Alexander Dück changed the goalkeeper after this goal: Leon Willerscheid took over for Valentin Ankirchner. But just three minutes later, Vojtech Hradec rang the bell for the fifth time in the German goal. Despite the clear lead, the Czechs did not slow down and increased the lead to 0:6 in the middle third with the second goal from Vojtech Hradec.
The final third began again with an early penalty: Edwin Tropmann received a game misconduct penalty after a check to the head. However, in the five-minute power play, the Czechs remained without a goal and even weakened themselves with a penalty. Then that happened DEB-Team once again made good offensive moves. Czech Republic goalkeeper Michael Hrabal parried every shot attempt by the Germans until three minutes before the end, Mannheim's young eagle Linus Brandl scored the longed-for first tournament goal for Germany. However, the final point belonged to Dominik Petr and the Czechs with the 1:7.
They will score in the third group A preliminary round game DEB-Selection on Monday, April 24, 2023 to Slovakia. The game starts at 18.30:XNUMX p.m.
