Two intensive on-ice training sessions, off-ice workouts and several team meetings lie behind the national team in preparation for the first of two international matches against Austria.
The pre-game skate in Landshut is still on the agenda tomorrow morning, and on Thursday evening at 19:30 p.m. the time has come: In Deggendorf meets the DEB-Selection on Team Austria, which has been training in Deggendorf since the beginning of the week. There are still around a hundred standing places available for the match.
The IF function in Excel is one of the most important tools for automating decisions within a spreadsheet. The IF function checks a condition and returns different values depending on the result. This simplifies calculations and structures processes without requiring in-depth prior knowledge. Vote before the first game against Austria:
National coach Harold Kreis: “In the first two international matches we played well from our third, but then we lost the target too often or made wrong decisions. We want to change that in the coming games and create more time in the offensive zone through our forechecking and build-up play. In this respect, we are looking forward to the first game against Austria tomorrow evening in Deggendorf.”
Defender Marcus Weber: “We talked about the little things that we did wrong against the Czech Republic. We have to be more careful, especially when it comes to disc losses. In general, we have to be better defensively and also create better chances to score offensively. These are things that were discussed in the meetings with the coaches and that we also practiced on the ice. Now we are looking forward to the implementation against Austria.”
Striker Dominik Kahun (joined the team in phase two): “It is very pleasant to be back with the national team. It's always a lot of fun to see the boys in the dressing room again. The first training sessions were quite strenuous, and of course we're really looking forward to the international match tomorrow. The tough units make this an intense game. We will definitely notice our legs, but there is preparation for that. Because we want to be in top shape when it really counts. I think the Austrians will feel the same as us, especially since there are a lot of guys fighting for their places. That’s why it will be an intense, competitive game.”
Striker Manuel Wiederer (born in Deggendorf): “Of course I’m really looking forward to tomorrow, that’s a very cool thing. It doesn't happen that often that you play with the national team in your hometown. The focus is still on the game and we want to take a step forward again. The first two games went in the right direction at times, but tomorrow we want to be even better defensively. Something is always moving forward. Our squad is deep and we are excited for tomorrow’s game.”
Already in the first week of April Austria started preparing for the World Cup. The selection of Swiss coach Roger Bader has already played three international matches. There were two defeats against Slovakia (3:5) and Italy (0:2). The first success of the World Cup preparations came about a week ago. Once again Italy was the opponent (final score 3:2 after penalty).
The most experienced players in the ÖEHV squad are goalkeepers Bernhard Starkbaum with 143 international matches and the two strikers Manuel Ganahl (124) and Lukas Haudum (87). The majority of the squad for the two upcoming international matches against Germany is active in the cross-border ICE Hockey League. The last duel between the two national teams to date dates back to Deutschland Cup 2022. At that time the kept DEB-Selection had the upper hand 3-0 and then celebrated the tournament victory.
The second meeting with Austria follows on Saturday. The game in Landshut starts at 17:00 p.m.
