Both teams were able to secure qualification for the final early. The ECDC women prevailed in the semi-finals with a 3-0 win against ESC Planegg-Würmtal. The Mannheim women managed a 3-1 win against the reigning champions ERC Ingolstadt.
The two final teams have already faced each other four times in the main round. Here the ECDC players were able to win all games.
Waldemar Dietrich, coach Memmingen: "I don't see us as clear favorites. In the semi-finals, Ingolstadt was also the favorite and Mannheim then came out of the series with 3:1 wins. The fact that we finished the main round as clear first no longer counts. We're starting from scratch and have to approach each individual game with concentration."
Randall Karsten, coach Mannheim: “From a sporting perspective, we have finally arrived. The continuous work is now paying off, but we are not there yet. We can only win at the weekend and want to make it as difficult as possible for Memmingen. I have respect for the girls, how they have improved in the round and can now crown themselves. We’re all excited for the final round.”
Ronja Hark, defender Memmingen: “I’m expecting exciting games at a very high level. Of course, I also hope that a lot of people will come to the hall for the final series to support us. But what’s more important is that we can reward ourselves for our hard work throughout the season.”
Jessica Ekrt, goalkeeper Mannheim: “Of course we are all very motivated after the 3-1 win against Ingolstadt. We have improved a lot in the games and want to take that with us. However, the series against Memmingen starts at 0-0, but we will do everything we can to ensure that we leave the ice as winners again at the end.”
