The Deutscher Eishockey-Bund (DEB) mourns Sepp Reif together with the German ice hockey family. The former national player died at the age of 85.
The striker played for the German national ice hockey team from 1959 to 1968, scoring 22 goals in 82 games. Sepp Reif took part in three Olympic Games and came home with the DEB-Team 1960 sixth place Squaw Valley (USA), as well as seventh place in Innsbruck (AUT) in 1964 and Grenoble (FRA) in 1968.
For the EC Bad Tölz and the Düsseldorfer EG Reif played a total of 432 first division games. In 1978 he ended his active career and then worked as a coach.
For his services to his sport, Sepp Reif was inducted into the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.
